change hostname when connected

Hi,
Many SQL clients allow the user to modify his hostname that will appear when executing a "sp_who".

I don't see where to modify that setting in SQLDbx.
Could you point me in the right direction please ? It currently uses the real hostname of my computer, and I need to personalize it.

Thanks,
Philippe.

Re: change hostname when connected

Currently there's no option to modify hostname. It's fixed to computer name

Re: change hostname when connected

Hi,
In ASE isql for example, this setting is available at the login screen.

I am currently in a firm where the hostname set in my computer is too long (15 characters) and therefore is shown truncated in a sp_who that only shows the first 10 characters of the hostname.

Therefore, without this option we all would seem to be using the same computer.
Other people using ASE configured their hostname to show something personalized, and they are easily distinguishable.

Could that option be added in a future version ?

Re: change hostname when connected

I guess it is possible.
Not sure if it should be global setting or per server

Re: change hostname when connected

I'd say per server. To allow more precise control.
