I just installed oracle 11.1 on windows 7 ultimate. My oracle home is "C:appM1330product11.1.0db_1BIN".
When I try to register an oracle server I get "Unable to load oracle client library".
I can see in sqldbx that current oracle home "OraDb11g_home1" is set to "C:appM1330product11.1.0db_1BIN"
which should be correct! I can connect with no problem with sql plus. Any idea how to solve this?
For some reason SqlDbx unable to locate oci.dll
Start SqlDbx with -l command switch.
Try to register server or list them.
Exit SqlDbx and take a look at SqlDbx.exe.log
file located in a same directory where SqlDbx.exe

As far as I can see you have Windows 7 64 bit.
Did you install Oracle 32 or 64 bit client?
If you have 32 bit client can you try to copy SqlDbx.exe
to directory where oci.dll located and try to run it.

Yes, I have the 64bit version. I uninstalled this, installed 32bit, placed sqldbx.exe in bin folder and now its working again.
Thanks!!!
I am having the same issue. I tried to follow the steps mentioned but I am getting nowhere. I am just using the sqldbx Personal version 3.64
I have an Oracle 64 bit but the oci.dll is found here: C:Oracleproduct11.2.0client_1BIN
I cannot install 32bit Oracle since this version is having issues with vbscript.
I also noticed that when I press Tools > ODBC Administrator, it opens the ODBC Data Source Admin on the system32 instead of the Syswow. The DNS is set under SYSWOW.
Please advice thank you!!!

Personal Edition is 32 bit application. It will work with x64 bit Oracle client.

It will work? or will not work?
Sorry I just want to clarify. I have seen other applications that are 32 bit that will not work with 64 bit OS.
Thank you

Sorry. Personal Edition will not work with x64 Oracle client.
Pro x64 Edition does work.
