Records counter not updated

I find very usefull to have the number of records displayed next to each table name

How come when purging a table or importing new records this counter is never updated even if I restart SqlDbx?

Is there a function to refresh them?

It depends on database you use

I use an Oracle 10.2 DB with a "Oracle server" OCI connection

Oracle does not maintain real time row counts. Only updates it after updating table statistics.
