It would be nice that when you publish a new release to have attached to it a detailed description of the new features and how to get to the options.

This is a very valid point. We will try to do better in the future.
Regarding Production / Non production option.
To turn Production mode on check "Production" check box in Login screen.
This will turn on use of alternate background color and Production Restriction options set on Options->Servers page.
It also can be temporarily switched ON / OFF by using menu Connection->Production ON / OFF

Great new additions; however this version has a most awesome feature not mentioned:
Object window (on left) now maintains selected object and the scrolled-to location when refreshing the object list!
I also just found a bug:
When you select multiple objects, then "Scripting Options". Then press Cancel or OK or Apply. The scripting options dialog is shown several times (if you select 5 objects, it will be displayed 5 times).
